Bamboo vinegar is an acidic liquid with a distinctive smoky fragrance, a specific weight of around 1.01, and a pH value of around 2-3. Over 90% of the liquid is water, while complex organic components (with acetic acid as the main ingredient) which are completely natural account for the remaining 10%. Bamboo vinegar has deodorization, preservation, and sterilization effects.
Bamboo vinegar should meet the following criteria
Premium CAS bamboo vinegar is made from over 4-year-old mature bamboo, which has not been treated with preservatives, termite repellents, adhesives, coating materials, or other agents. It is meticulously refined in carbonizing kilns (earthen or brick kilns) or mechanical furnaces by adopting high-temperature carbonization technologies. The liquid is obtained through condensation of fumes at extraction vent temperatures of 80-140°C. The liquid is fermented for six months before the upper-layer light oil and lower-layer settled tar is removed. The remaining mid-layer liquid is then distilled and tested to ensure the quality of the bamboo vinegar.
There are many factors affecting the quality of bamboo charcoal. As a result, rigorous assessments of the operating environment and hardware, raw material production process, quality, sanitary conditions, and storage management are therefore conducted during the CAS evaluation process for premium bamboo charcoal. Manufacturers are also required to indicate the following information on their labels in a detailed manner based on usage purposes: degree of refinement, fixed carbon content, specific surface area, hardness, bamboo type and place of origin, manufacturing method, shape, net weight, usage instructions, important reminders, manufacturing date, and manufacturer or seller information.
Different carbonization temperatures during the bamboo vinegar collection process lead to changes in the components. Special regulations therefore exist for premium CAS bamboo vinegar. Fumes generated at extraction vent temperatures of 80-140°C are collected and the manufactured vinegar is divided into two categories (crude and distilled bamboo vinegar) based on the adopted production method.
